Picture the wide sky of Gaspesie in Quebec and its icy sea that gave us the little pieces of driftwood we collected. Or the wildly colourful sunsets of Fiji, the abundant life all around that made me want to experiment with shapes. Or the milder, often soaked scenery of the common where I walk my dog in the UK that is the background of my learning pottery.

The hedgehog. Instead of tucking the end of the pine needles in the coil, they are left to stick out. Very fiddly to stitch!
Fijian basket, the lighter rows are coiled with the softer fibres of the sasa brooms people use there. They are handmade from the coconut leaf spines.
